For the curious

About the Project

Humble Beginnings...

The project started out as a personal mapping project for the places that I want to visit someday. On August 13, while I was mapping the Yuru Camp△ series, I stumbled on the official map of the series and discovered that it is in high demand with millions of views. Unfortunately for the English-speaking audience, the entire map is in Japanese and rather hard to navigate. Realizing this and at the same time motivated by other factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic halting tourism worldwide, I started this project to help restart anime tourism and stimulate the tourism of various locations once the pandemic is over.

When will you map [anime]?

Mapping takes a long time and the average duration it take to map a series can be found in the status page. It should be a decent estimate for me to be able to map accurately, keep my sanity, live a life, and set a decent level of expectation for the community.

I sometimes hold polls on Twitter from the official project account @AnimeSiteMap to decide which series I should map next so head over to Twitter and follow the account!

If you represent an anime production committee and would like to feature your production and model maps on the site, you can reach out to me at dev.animesitemap@gmail.com and we'll talk it out!

Old hardware can still lift their weight but I have to admit that it's very limiting. Mapping speeds slow down easily due to having to switch tabs often to locate an anime scene and locating in on the map and embarrassingly, crashes often occur as a result of trying to run new software on it. However, it proves that you don't need cutting edge hardware to make a difference and start a project.
